The Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of the People’s Republic of China (AFSL)—which took effect on June 10, 2021—is aimed at safeguarding the national security and development interests of China and countering the impact of foreign sanctions that are perceived to interfere with China’s internal affairs. This law enables a wide range of countersanctions for various activities undertaken by individuals or entities involved in creating or carrying out China-related sanctions implemented by foreign governments.
